Facebook’s Revenue for 2009? Over 640 Million. Founder CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s photos this week? Priceless.

The wonder boy who developed Facebook at Harvard University appears to lead the charmed life, getting away with all sorts of shenanigans, until he hit the hot seat at this week’s D8 Conference this week. When grilled about the new privacy settings on his Facebook enterprise, he stumbled through and broke out in a sweat; it all made for an uncomfortable watch.
Awkward moments are no stranger in the tech world. Here are a few more that you may find entertaining…
At CES 2005, Bill Gates had trouble getting the remote to work with Windows Media Center. Poor guy had THAT look on his face that just made you feel bad for him. And if that wasn’t bad enough, “co-host” Conan O’Brien kept making fun of him! Bad day at the Gates palace.

In 2008, Jerry Yang, former CEO of Yahoo, sent out an email to his ‘yahoos’, as he addressed them, stating that they would soon be without a job.. “saying goodbye is hard to do”.. but apparently easier for him over email. To add insult to injury the email was sent a la ee cummings (the poet) without capitalization. Many were bothered by this, however personally i DoN’t sEe THE pRoBLem wIth hIS pOst. It was quickly transmitted widely on the web!

I wouldn’t be doing my job, if I didn’t include at least one woman on my list..In 2008, EMC held a career day on Second Life a virtual world developed by Linden Labs. Polly Pearson, a vice president, participated virtually in the event, in which EMC held mock interviews. Here’s Pearson’s own description of what happened next: “When it came time for my mock interview, I sat down behind a virtual desk and noticed that I was still wearing a hardhat with a miner-like light beam shining directly in the face of my interviewer. I thought, ‘My goodness, you can’t wear a hat during an interview,’ so I right clicked on a menu that would allow me to remove my hat. My hat was removed all right. So were all my clothes! I sat there like a naked mannequin with my team circled around laughing.” Now that’s what I call full participation!
Here she is… fully clothed!

This one is my favorite.. Purely for the look on this guys face! The BBC, seeking to interview a technology expert in the ‘Apple Computer vs. the Beatles’ Apple Corps dispute, booked Guy Kewney to appear on the air. But someone goofed and instead brought one Guy Goma to the set. He looked stunned when a reporter started asking him questions. One would think that they’d figure something was “amiss” when it was reported to the editor that the guest seemed “very breathless and nervous” prior to the show. Later it was discovered that, Guy, the wrong guy… had just come to the studio for a job interview. He later said he had thought the whole thing was some kind of initiation stunt! Poor guy… I mean Guy!
